Wendy Spivak assumed the role of assistant dean for financial operations in 2008, after two decades of service in the dean's office. She works closely with Fred Puddester, the school's senior associate dean for finance and administration, on budget management , financial reporting, and accounting and analysis, and she oversees sponsored projects' pre- and post-award activities. She is also involved in the development and analysis of capital programs and major initiatives.
Spivak has been in the dean's office since 1989 and has served in many roles there, beginning as a budget officer and including five years as senior director of financial operations before rising to her current role. Prior to joining the School of Arts and Sciences, she worked for two years in the Johns Hopkins University controller's office, where she supervised staff in the preparation of reports pertaining to sponsored grants and contracts. Spivak has served on the Provost's Committee on the Status of Women and as a member of the board of directors of the Johns Hopkins Federal Credit Union.
Spivak is a Certified Public Accountant and holds a BA from Pennsylvania State University.
