Nora Ali

Nora Ali is a current sophomore at Krieger School of Arts and Sciences studying Public Health.  Born and raised in New Jersey, Nora spends most of her time learning weird facts so she can be unstoppable the day she is on Jeopardy.  Other hobbies include strengthening my faith, watching Discovery Channel (especially Shark Week) and finding something truly unique and exciting about each and every day.   One day she hopes to write a novel or screen play, depending on how interesting the rest of her life will be.  The first nineteen years have provided enough for multiple movies.  From chasing hyenas for sport to learning the beauty of Somali poetry, to being quarantined for whooping cough to tracking down Anderson Cooper, God has been extremely good to her.  Nora’s two major goals upon graduation in 2011 are to be fluent in Arabic and learn how to play the drums.

Nora was the second place winner for the Freshmen Book Read Essay Contest, for her response to Dr. Beverly Daniel Tatum’s Why are All the Black Kids Sitting Together in the Cafeteria.  Nora also worked as an intern at Princeton in Africa, a non-profit organization creating students into leaders in various fields throughout the continent.
