Requirements for the Minor

To earn the undergraduate minor in Islamic Studies, you must pass the coursework requirement and the language requirement.

Coursework requirement

Pass at least six approved courses totaling at least 18 credits. Two or more of the courses must be 300-level or higher. You may count up to two semesters of relevant language study as part of the six.

Language requirement

There are two ways to complete the language requirement:

Take a language course.
  • Pass, in an approved language, a course at a level equivalent to the second semester of the first-year sequence (“advanced beginner”) or higher.

or

Take a proficiency exam.
  • Pass, in an approved language, a proficiency exam at level equivalent to the second semester of the first-year sequence (“advanced beginner”) or higher.
