Last fall, the Board of Trustees announced it had increased the fundraising goal for Johns Hopkins’ “Knowledge for the World” campaign from $2 billion to $3.2 billion, and that the campaign would be extended through December 2008.
Noting that society faces formidable new challenges and more than ever needs discoveries that make a difference, Hopkins President William R. Brody said the new goal “represents our constant commitment at Johns Hopkins—an institution that has always been an engine for discovery—to go beyond discovery. We are committed also to building a better world,
to applying the knowledge we generate here to benefit humankind.”
The university’s campaign to date has been enormously successful, eclipsing the original goal in December 2005. The Krieger School’s portion of the goal has also increased, from $250 million to $260 million, of which approximately $189 million has been raised.
