Alumni Stories: Emily Carambelas '11

Major: Archaeology, History of Science, Medicine, and Technology
Current Position:
Researcher at the Alan Mason Chesney Medical Archives of JHMI

After graduation Emily will be working at the Alan Mason Chesney Medical Archives of JHMI. She has worked at the archives for the past two years as a student worker. Her success as a student intern led to her being offered a full time position. She works primarily with the material culture and fine arts collections. Along with her regular duties, she'll be working on a research report concerning a portrait of Franklin Paine Mall, the first professor of anatomy at Hopkins (pictured above).

In the fall Emily plans on taking more classes in order to complete the requirements for admission to conservation school (art and object conservation).

In mid-November Emily's student curated show about the Sonneborn Collection of Judaica will be displayed at Hillel. The theme of the show is how to interpret and care for Judaica and holy objects in museums.
