The 14th Annual NorthEast Under/graduate Research Organization for Neuroscience (NEURON) conference will be held on Sunday, November 22nd, 2009 at Boston Latin School (BLS) in Boston.  As you are aware this meeting is free.  I understand the keynote talk will be great :-).  This event is coordinated with the 375 anniversary of BLS and my receipt of the distinguished alumnae award. So this is a special meeting for us.  For more information or to register for NEURON, please see attached pamphlet or the website at www.albany.edu/neuron.   Please encourage your students and colleagues to register and attend.

Associated with the meeting is award to faculty member who exhibits exemplary commitment to research, teaching, and in particular, mentoring of students. It was Dr. Erskine’s pioneering career and generous spirit of collegiality toward students that undoubtedly seeded the ideas for this very conference in the minds of its organizers, and it is only natural that she be honored in this way.  Evaluation Committee will be persons that are former trainees from Erskine Lab (Drs. Cameron, Polsten, Seliga) and winner (Dr. Ramos-Goyette).  The evaluation materials (Short, NIH format CV
Letter of nomination  Self-nominations accepted) need to be submitted by November 18, 2009 and should be sent to Cheryl Frye, Ph.D, cafrye@albany.edu.

The Tieman award for best presentation by undergrad, grad, post-doc/faculty, will be decided that day. Click here for more info.

Every second Wednesday of each month - Brain Night, SOM, 5:30 pm, Mountcastle Auditorium
Specific event information will be posted once it becomes available.

WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU!
Tell us what you think

Through our Hopkins Interactive (http://apply.jhu.edu/hi/) we provide the opportunity for faculty, staff, alumni, and students to submit "guest blog" entries on a topic of their choosing.

These entries are posted to a series of blogs that are accessible to all of our prospective students and applicants. Links to the blogs:

Guest Blog: http://hopkins.typepad.com/guest/ (current student entries)

Faculty / Staff Blog: http://hopkins.typepad.com/random/faculty_blogs/

Alumni Blog: http://hopkins.typepad.com/random/alumni_blogs/

Any one can submit a "guest" entry, and the entries are a one-time submission. If you want more background on guest blogging for Admissions, read this recent Gazette article: http://www.jhu.edu/~gazette/2009/23feb09/23blogging.html. The submission for a student, faculty or staff member is quite simple.

For further information and instructions for submitting a Guest Blog, please contact Daniel Creasy in the office of Undergraduate Admissions at daniel.creasy@jhu.edu .
