PUBLIC HEALTH STUDIES APPLIED EXPERIENCE

Organizations or JHU Faculty/Staff interested in hosting Applied Experiences:
Please complete our Opportunity Description Form and send to Ann Beckemeyer, Applied Experience Coordinator, abeckemeyer@jhu.edu.

Background

Students majoring in Public Health Studies (PHS) have traditionally elected to complete some version of an applied experience during the course of their undergraduate career. Starting with the class of 2013, all PHS Undergraduate Majors are required to complete an applied experience in public health prior to graduation. This requirement involves a supervised, hands-on experience working with public health professionals. The goal of the applied experience requirement is to ensure that students have practical public health exposure with an opportunity for mentoring in public health clinical, research, or community settings. Through the applied experience, we aim to afford each student the opportunity to participate in population-level change in a meaningful way.

Tips on gettting the most out of your Applied Experience!
