Vicki Lewis McGarvey ’91
Vicki Lewis McGarvey is the Associate Vice President for Academic and Faculty Affairs in the Executive Office of the President at Temple University. In this role she advises President Hart on all academic matters and plays a lead role in planning new academic programs and evaluating existing programs; monitors accreditation activities; collaborates with administrative units, such as the provost’s office, admissions, research and development, whose work influences Temple’s academic quality; and advises the president on issues pertaining to faculty recruitment, appointment, promotion and tenure.
McGarvey joined Temple as associate vice provost in 2001. In that role, she served as staff to the Council of Deans, coordinated the approval of academic programs for the Academic Affairs Committee of the Board of Trustees and managed the recruitment of new deans. She has previously held positions in scientific, financial and research administration in the medical schools at the Johns Hopkins University and the University of Pennsylvania. She also served as the administrative and financial officer for the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Work.
McGarvey holds a B.A. in natural sciences and an M.B.A. from the Johns Hopkins University and an Ed.D. in higher education administration from the University of Pennsylvania.
