Project Description

The Jewish community of Malta has about 100 members. Despite its small size, the community is very diverse, with members who are Orthodox, Reform, Ashkenazi, and Sphardi; they came to Malta for a variety of reasons, from retirement to fleeing the Holocaust to repatriation after their families’ expulsion in the early 1500s. Being Jewish in the second-most Catholic country in the world (next to the Vatican City) isn’t easy. This is their story.
