Project Description

My research aims to create a better understanding of the roles that American Sign Language (ASL) and South Africa Sign Language (SASL) play for deaf students at the V.N. Naik School for the Deaf in Kwa-Zulu Natal, South Africa, who are learning English as their second language. This research is important because a failure to learn English in the KwaZulu-Natal province results in a failure to pass the national university entrance exam.
