Professor Cindy Moss’s lab recently published research about<\/a> bats’ ability to predict their prey’s path with echolocation. The research–with contributions from behavioral biology undergraduates Ike Enenemoh, Alexa Earls, and Dean Sheehan–was also picked up by CNN<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The paper shows that bats\u2019 echolocation integrates acoustic snapshots over time to build prediction models of a moving auditory target\u2019s trajectory, and enable prey capture under conditions of uncertainty. This work can inform future comparative work on auditory motion processing for animals and humans.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
