Between December 5th and 6th, the filmmaker and anthropologist Kathrin Ramey<\/strong> will be our guest for a screening of her film “El Signo Vac\u00edo<\/strong>” at the JHU-MICA Film Center, followed by a masterclass on Film Theory.<\/p>\n\n\n\nKathryn Ramey is a filmmaker and anthropologist whose work operates at the intersection of experimental film processes and ethnographic research.\u202f<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n

In February, the filmmaker and scholar Soyoung Kim<\/strong> will present her latest film, “Ana<\/strong>“, for an American preview followed by Q&A.<\/p>\n\n\n\nSoyoung Kim is a filmmaker and scholar who directed the Women\u2019s History Trilogy<\/strong> (2001-2008) and the Exile Trilogy <\/strong>(2014-2018). Her works include the feature film Viewfinder, the experimental video Ana: Cosmic Archivist, SFdrome: Ju Se-juk, and Ana Inn: Harvesting the Light (a multi-channel video work).<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n <\/figure>\n
March will see the visit of the scholar and artist McKenzie Wark<\/strong>, which will present her most recents publications within the field of Film and Media Theory.<\/p>\n\n\n\nMcKenzie Wark is an Australian-born writer and scholar. Wark is known for her writings on media theory, critical theory, new media, and the Situationist International. She is the author of \u201cReverse Cowgirl<\/strong>\u201d, \u201cRaving<\/strong>\u201d and \u201cLove and Money, Sex and Death<\/strong>\u201d. She is Professor of Media and Culture at Eugene Lang College, The New School.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n <\/figure>\n
In April, professor Patricia White<\/strong> will conduct two lectures on Feminist Transnational Cinema spanning between the 1970’s and the contemporary age.<\/p>\n\n\n\nPatricia White is Director of the Aydelotte Foundation for the Liberal Arts and Centennial Professor of Film and Media Studies at Swarthmore College, where she also heads the Program in Gender and Sexuality Studies<\/strong>.
