In this interdisciplinary graduate workshop, we\u2019ll discuss the publication process from start to finish with special focus on how to process and incorporate reviewers\u2019 feedback for resubmission. Our focus will be on publishing an academic article, but we will engage the range of venues and outlets for writing.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

This workshop is open to JHU PhD students and faculty in the humanities and social sciences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Speaker:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Justin L. Mann<\/strong> is an Assistant Professor of English and Black Studies at Northwestern University. His book, Breaking the World: Black Insecurity and the Horizons of Speculative Fiction<\/em> (forthcoming March 2026) argues that Black speculative fictions uniquely reimagine security policy and practice in the contemporary. His research has appeared in American Quarterly<\/em>, MELUS<\/em>, Feminist Studies<\/em>, Feminist Theory<\/em>, and Surveillance and Society<\/em>, and on the websites avidly.com and syndicate.com, and he has guest edited the journals MELUS<\/em>, GLQ<\/em>, and ASAP<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alice Engelhard<\/strong> is the Patrick Henry postdoctoral fellow of Mobilities and World Order in the Johns Hopkins Political Science Department. She received her PhD in International Relations from the London School of Economics, where she acted as Editor of the Millennium Journal of International Studies<\/em>. Her research explores the regulation and categorization of (im)mobilities and transformations in world order, with a focus on empire and race in the Indian Ocean World. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
