The East Asian Studies Program would like to welcome Dr. Nuri Kim, who will be joining us as EAS Postdoctoral Fellow for AY 2018-2019.
Nuri Kim is a historian with an interest in the cultural, intellectual, and religious history of modern Korea and beyond. His current research focuses on new religious movements, alternative knowledge, and fringe groups, as well as their relation with mainstream society and transnational trends. Previously, Nuri was a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Pennsylvania where he taught courses on Korean as well as East/Southeast Asian history. Nuri also served as a research fellow at Seoul National University’s Kyujanggak Institute and received his Ph.D. in History and East Asian Languages from Harvard University.
