Sharlyn Rhee is a comparative literature scholar in poetry, poetics, and film. Her special field of interest is where Korean and German cultures intersect. She received her bachelor\u2019s in English Literature from Vassar College and her doctorate from the University of Chicago. Her thesis explored the affinities of two poets, Hwang Chiu and Ingeborg Bachmann. She taught at Johns Hopkins and Maryland Institute College of Art between 2003 and 2012. She has also taught at Lake Forest College, Hanshin University in Suwon, South Korea, and at the University of Pennsylvania. She is a visual artist, specializing in portraits. Her recent work is gathered in her 2021 catalog \u201cSecond Visions,\u201d with an essay by Victoria Cass.<\/p>"],"ecpt_teaching":["
