George Oppel has been teaching in the University Writing Program since 2006. After lecturing at Griffith University in Australia, he pursued graduate studies in Political Science at Johns Hopkins, where he edited book reviews for Political Theory. He has published in the field of constitutional law and theory, and his long-running courses in expository writing include Politics and Violence and Law and Revenge. His research and writing interests encompass the fields of political theory, law and literature, and American political history, with an emphasis on the republican tradition and the role played by passions and vices in political thought and action.
