Rebecca Wilbanks holds a BA summa cum laude in comparative literature and biological sciences from Cornell University, received her PhD from Stanford’s Program in Modern Thought and Literature, and was a Hecht-Levi postdoctoral fellow in bioethics and the history of medicine at Johns Hopkins. Her research and teaching explore the intersection of science and culture, with interests in 20th and 21st century American literature, speculative fiction, science and technology studies (STS), and the medical and environmental humanities. Her current book project is entitled “Life’s Imagined Futures: The Speculative Science and Speculative Fiction of Synthetic Biology.” You can learn more about her work at rrwilbanks.com.
