Bae made her first film,\u00a0Grand, Father and Me, at age sixteen and\u00a0has won\u00a0numerous awards for her work, including the 38th Student Academy Award,\u00a0the 16th Annual Directors Guild of America Student Film Award, and the Kodak\u00a0Cinematographers Scholarship, among others.<br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/><br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/>Before joining Johns Hopkins, Bae was the Seoul Producer\u00a0for BBC covering stories including the South-North Korean division on land and\u00a0mind, Korean\u00a0women\u2019s emerging voice against sexual violence, and the unprecedented\u00a0challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic for the last seven years.\u00a0Her team\u2019s\u00a0investigation on\u00a0the Gangnam\u00a0sex scandal was a winner at the Asian Academy Creative Awards for Best Single\u00a0News Story\/Report of Korea, 2019.<br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/><br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/>Before\u00a0joining BBC, Bae led a production company specialized in international\u00a0co-productions for\u00a0character-driven social\u00a0justice films.\u00a0One\u00a0of its features\u00a0Dollar Heroes\u00a0was\u00a0shown at the European Parliament and the UN, and broadcasted through more than\u00a070 public stations including BBC Panorama and\u00a0Storyville as well as numerous\u00a0international film festivals. The film was nominated for a 2019 Grierson\u00a0Documentary Award for Best Documentary Series and\u00a0won the 59th Monte-Carlo TV\u00a0Festival Golden Nymph Awards for Best Documentary.<br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/><br aria-hidden=\"true\" \/>Bae completed her MFA in Film\u00a0and Video at Columbia College Chicago and her internship at PBS Frontline, WGBH\u00a0Boston. Bae cut her teeth in Chicago as a\u00a0documentary editor for Emmy Award-winning\u00a0producer Tod Lending and Kartemquin Films.
