On Friday, April 12, independent film producer Christine Vachon visits the SNF Parkway Theatre as the seventh Visiting Artist in the Johns Hopkins University Film and Media Studies Bachelor of Arts Program’s 2018-19 Visiting Artist Series. This event is presented in partnership by the Maryland Film Festival, JHU Film & Media Studies Program, and the Saul Zaentz Foundation.<\/p>\n

The evening will begin with a screening of\u00a0Velvet Goldmine<\/em> (dir. Todd Haynes, 1998). Afterward, Ms. Vachon will do a talk\/Q&A on her life in films, moderated by Meredith Ward, Director of the JHU Bachelor of Arts Program in Film and Media Studies.<\/p>\n

Christine is one of the biggest names in independent film today, and has been since the 1990s. She has produced Academy-Award winning films such as\u00a0Boys Don’t Cry<\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0Carol<\/em>. Her production company is responsible for producing over 100 films, including\u00a0Far From Heaven<\/em>,\u00a0Kids<\/em>,\u00a0One Hour Photo<\/em>,\u00a0Hedwig and the Angry Inch<\/em>,\u00a0 Happiness<\/em>,\u00a0 Storytelling<\/em>,\u00a0 Velvet Goldmine<\/em>,\u00a0SAFE,<\/em>\u00a0I Shot Andy Warhol<\/em>,\u00a0Go Fish<\/em>,\u00a0Swoon<\/em>,\u00a0I’m Not There<\/em>,\u00a0Still Alice<\/em>, and so many more!<\/p>\n
