{"id":66997,"date":"2026-01-27T12:21:50","date_gmt":"2026-01-27T17:21:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/krieger.jhu.edu\/humanities-institute\/?p=66997"},"modified":"2026-01-27T12:21:53","modified_gmt":"2026-01-27T17:21:53","slug":"aghi-sheridan-libraries-graduate-student-summer-fellowship-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/krieger.jhu.edu\/humanities-institute\/2026\/01\/27\/aghi-sheridan-libraries-graduate-student-summer-fellowship-program\/","title":{"rendered":"AGHI-Sheridan Libraries Graduate Student Summer Fellowship Program"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Alexander Grass Humanities Institute and the Sheridan Libraries are delighted to announce the creation of a new Graduate Student Summer Fellowship Program. <strong>Beginning in July 2026<\/strong>, AGHI and the Sheridan Libraries will offer two paid six-week fellowships aimed at providing in-depth exposure to the Libraries and their special collections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Fellows will pursue one of two tracks:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rotational Fellowships under the direction of Dr. Mack Zalin: Fellows will engage with the various aspects of scholar librarianship, including collection development, reference, instruction, cataloging, digital humanities, and service to the profession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Special Collections Curatorial Fellowships under the direction of Dr. Earle Havens: Fellows will work with pre-1800 rare books and manuscripts at the Stern Center for the History of the Book on a project tailored to their academic and research interests. Each Fellow will prepare an overview description of a collection of rare materials around a specific theme as well as ten brief public-facing essays, accompanied by digital images, which will be posted on the Stern Center website. Examples of such essays can be found here: <a href=\"https:\/\/sterncenter.library.jhu.edu\/early-books\/\">https:\/\/sterncenter.library.jhu.edu\/early-books\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Eligibility<\/strong>: Eligibility is limited to PhD students in any humanities department below year five of their program, or who will be entering their sixth year during summer 2026; students who will be beyond their sixth year are ineligible. International PhD students will need to apply for CPT, information on and the application for which can be found here: <a href=\"https:\/\/ois.jhu.edu\/students\/current-f-1-students\/f-1-training-and-employment\/curricular-practical-training\/\">https:\/\/ois.jhu.edu\/students\/current-f-1-students\/f-1-training-and-employment\/curricular-practical-training\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Stipend<\/strong>: $5000<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Deadline Extended:<\/strong> February 15<sup>th<\/sup>, with decisions by the end of February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Application Materials and Submission:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Project proposal of no more than 1,000 words;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Letter of recommendation from your academic advisor<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3.
