Like\u00a0its predecessor\u00a0in Suleiman\u2019s oeuvre,\u00a0the film uses absurd humor to depict the daily triumphs and humiliations of\u00a0Palestinians living under Israeli occupation. More focused than the vignette-based narratives of <em>Divine Intervention<\/em> and <em>Chronicle of a Disappearance<\/em>, the film plays out in four\u00a0episodes: Nazareth\u2019s surrender to Israel in 1948; the death of pan-Arab leader Gamal Abdel Nasser in 1970; the fourth\u00a0Land Day, an annual protest of Israeli land expropriation, in 1980;\u00a0and a more\u00a0fantastical\u00a0sequence\u00a0of events in the aftermath of the\u00a0Second Intifada (2000-2005).\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Though <em>The Time that Remains<\/em> is the third in Elia Suleiman\u2019s celebrated \u201cPalestine trilogy,\u201d\u00a0it\u2019s\u00a0a great standalone film \u2013 you\u00a0don\u2019t\u00a0need to have seen the first two\u00a0to enjoy this one!\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Starring Elia Suleiman (<em>It Must Be Heaven<\/em>), Saleh Bakri (<em>All That\u2019s Left of You<\/em>), and Leila Muammar (<em>The Present<\/em>).
