Designing For Federal Careers

This event looks at how to navigate windy paths through different federal positions. Join us to learn about a range of institutions and opportunities in the Federal government.

About the Speakers:

Marvin C. Ott, a Senior Fellow at the Foreign Policy Research Institute, is Visiting Professor, Johns Hopkins University, and Senior Scholar, Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. He served as Professor of National Security Policy, National War College, and Faculty Fellow at the Institute for National and Strategic Studies, National Defense University. He has held a variety of positions in government, including senior manager at the Congressional Office of Technology Assessment, senior East Asia analyst at the CIA, and Deputy Staff Director of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence.

Stephanie Talton is the Deputy Assistant Commissioner (DAC) for the Office of Congressional Affairs (OCA). OCA liaises with Congress, to include the Committees with jurisdictional and appropriations oversight of CBP, addressing the needs of the Hill to perform these functions, while advocating for legislation and preparing CBP executives for engagements with the Hill. Prior to her position as DAC of OCA, Ms. Talton spent three years as the chief of staff for the Office of Trade, managing the day-to-day operations of the Office of the Executive Assistant Commissioner, including overseeing communications, executive secretariat, and congressional functions.
