Originally founded in 1984 at American University in Washington, D.C., SIR now boasts a total of 140 chapters across the U.S., the UK, and France. In the spirit of leadership and scholarship, Sigma Iota Rho also publishes the annual <em>Journal of International Relations<\/em> with contributions from its student and faculty&nbsp;members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The&nbsp;fraternity\u2019s presence at Johns Hopkins University is founded upon two&nbsp;guiding principles: the recognition of exceptional academic&nbsp;ability in&nbsp;international and global studies and&nbsp;the creation of a close community of scholars who share a deep and&nbsp;abiding interest in this field of study.&nbsp;Our Gamma Chi chapter focuses on supporting international studies majors at Johns Hopkins, and providing for and helping to develop&nbsp;close peer-to-peer relationships.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We encourage all international studies majors to apply for membership.
