{"id":428,"date":"2022-03-18T14:26:10","date_gmt":"2022-03-18T14:26:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/krieger.jhu.edu\/it\/?page_id=428"},"modified":"2024-07-26T16:32:13","modified_gmt":"2024-07-26T20:32:13","slug":"purchasing-policy","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/krieger.jhu.edu\/it\/policies\/purchasing-policy\/","title":{"rendered":"Staff Purchases"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Staff computers and peripherals<\/strong>:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Full-time, block funded staff receive a new computer every 4 years.&nbsp; This computer can be either a desktop or laptop, and we offer a menu of standard items.&nbsp; All are configured to have sufficient resources to last through their usable life.&nbsp; Models that differ from the standards, including those from other manufacturers (e.g. Apple, Lenovo, etc.) require approval for both cost and functionality. If they exceed the cost of a comparable standard model the department must approve and provide budget. In addition, as non-standard models may require additional support and may not be serviceable in a timely fashion, these requests require a business justification that is subject to review and Dean&#8217;s Office approval.
