Congratulations to Almut Slizyk on receiving the David Detjen Research Grant to conduct research at the Deutsches Literaturarchiv. Almut will work on two projects at the archive. She will study the background materials for Margarete Susman’s 1910 book Das Wesen der modernen deutschen Lyrik, in which Susman coined the phrase “the lyrical I.” She will also examine Rainer Maria Rilke’s translation of Augustine’s Confessions with emphasis on the tolle lege scene for her dissertation on obstructed reading in fin de siècle literature. We wish her much success at the archive!
