Apply now for 2020 Intersession study abroad in Brazil: Health, Politics, and Cultural Studies in Bahia. Students will earn 3 credits as they study in Brazil from Jan. 4-24. Applications are due Oct. 1. An information session will be held Monday, Sept. 23 from 3-4 p.m. in Levering Conference Room A.

This fall, join the Portuguese program for three movies: Bald Mountain on Sept. 19, Laerte-se on Oct. 17, and All the Reasons to Forget on Nov. 14. All movies will be shown in Gilman 479 at 7 p.m.

The Portuguese Program Speaker Series presents, “Rites of Passage and Belonging in Jorge Amado’s os Capitães da Areia,” a lecture by Lauren Judy Reynolds, PhD, assistant professor, University of North Alabama. The lecture will take place from 10-11:30 a.m., Friday, Sept. 21 in Hodson 203. Refreshments will be served. 

The spring speaker series kicks off on March 26 with Dr. Talía Guzmán-González from the Library of Congress, discussing “Luso-Brazilian Treasures in the Nations Library.” Then, on April 23, hear Nicole Labruto from MIT talk about, “Nationalizing Nature.” Both events are 1-3 p.m. in the Sherwood Room of Levering Hall.
