Lecture by Robert Morrison (Bowdoin College). This talk is a discussion of a network of Jewish merchant-scholars who mediate a remarkable episode of intellectual exchange among scholars in the Ottoman Empire, Crete, and the Veneto between 1450 and 1550.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Robert Morrison is George Lincoln Skolfield, Jr. Professor of Religion and Middle Eastern and North African Studies at Bowdoin College. His most recent book is The Light of the World: Astronomy in al-Andalus<\/em> (California, 2016). A recent Guggenheim fellow, he is completing a book tentatively entitled Merchants of Knowledge<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
