Thursday, November 16, 2017
5:30pm, BLC Room 4040
Homewood Campus

For over twenty years Direct Dimensions Inc. has been providing advanced three-dimensional measurement, scanning and modeling services for a wide range of industries from medicine and aerospace to Hollywood. Increasingly, the company is working with artists (eg: Jeff Koons), museums (the Smithsonian, AMNH..) and heritage organizations (MHT).

This presentation showcases some of their recent work with museum collections, on archaeological sites, and for historic preservation. They will share a VR animation that reconstructs a Maryland slave cabin with all its archaeological artifacts rendered and located in the structure. Direct Dimensions will also discuss the future of the field and the technologies’ potential for digital scholarship.
