{"id":7,"date":"2013-06-06T08:05:12","date_gmt":"2013-06-06T12:05:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/krieger.jhu.edu\/template-academic-small\/?page_id=7"},"modified":"2023-08-21T09:20:35","modified_gmt":"2023-08-21T13:20:35","slug":"minor-requirements","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/krieger.jhu.edu\/music\/minor-requirements\/","title":{"rendered":"Minor Requirements"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Students wishing to earn a minor in music must take the following 19 credits:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Music Theory I (3 credits)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Musicianship I (2 credits) (Co-requisite with Music Theory I)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Music Theory II (3 credits)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Musicianship II (2 credits)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Intro to Western Classical Music (3 credits)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two Music seminars (6 credits)<br>-one must be a 300-level course<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Two semesters of lessons or performance in an ensemble<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Rudiments of Music Theory is not required for the minor but may be necessary to place into Music Theory I and Musicianship I.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Declaring the Minor<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>To declare a minor, students must obtain a Minor Declaration Form from the Office of Academic Advising or the Office of the Registrar.\u00a0The <a href=\"https:\/\/peabody.jhu.edu\/faculty\/suhnne-ahn\/\" data-type=\"people\" data-id=\"177\">program director<\/a> serves as the advisor for all music minors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During the spring semester of their junior year, students minoring in music are required to fill out and submit a Minor Progress Form to ensure that they will complete the coursework in time to graduate.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Students wishing to earn a minor in music must take the following 19 credits: Rudiments of Music Theory is not required for the minor but may be necessary to place into Music Theory I and Musicianship I.
