Potential applicants must also meet all <a href=\"http:\/\/krieger.jhu.edu\/neuroscience\/bams-program\/requirements\/\">pre-qualifying requirements<\/a> to be able to apply.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-911\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">What are the deadlines?<\/h2><div id=\"ac-911\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>All neuroscience juniors and seniors receive an announcement via email in advance of the fall\/spring application deadlines. The email will encourage those who are interested to start working on their research proposals and make arrangements with their research mentors.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-912\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">When does the program admit new students?<\/h2><div id=\"ac-912\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>Juniors and Seniors will receive and email every fall and spring to allow students to apply and matriculate from fall to spring or spring to summer.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-913\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">What are the application timeframes?<\/h2><div id=\"ac-913\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>Generally speaking, the deadlines are set forth by the director of the program, Dr. Jay Baraban, in accordance with the Undergraduate Program in Neuroscience. The application process usually begins in early October, and students are notified of their acceptance by mid-November of each academic year.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-914\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">Would I receive my BS before my MS if I am admitted?<\/h2><div id=\"ac-914\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>No, this is a concurrent program\u2014students participate in commencement ceremonies only once, and receive both degrees at the same time. Admitted students need to withdraw their BS graduation application and re-apply for the following year. For admitted students, the last semester as BS students is the fall one, just prior to beginning their first semester as concurrent.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-915\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">How long does it take to complete the MS requirements?<\/h2><div id=\"ac-915\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>Completion of all program requirements is limited to spring, summer, fall, and spring of the following year. Research is conducted in the first spring semester and runs through the end of fall of the same year, or a total of one year. The last spring semester is designated for coursework and thesis defense preparation. Therefore the program requirements can be completed in either four or five years. All students are held responsible for completing all requirements for both degrees within five years. If a student fails to complete all requirements for the MS degree within five years, he\/she will not be awarded the master&#8217;s degree.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-pb-accordion-item c-accordion__item js-accordion-item no-js\" data-initially-open=\"false\" data-click-to-close=\"true\" data-auto-close=\"true\" data-scroll=\"false\" data-scroll-offset=\"0\"><h2 id=\"at-916\" class=\"c-accordion__title js-accordion-controller\" role=\"button\">How many students are accepted in the program?<\/h2><div id=\"ac-916\" class=\"c-accordion__content\">\n<p>The program is limited to 10 students at a time.
