Websites

All Department Members

Anyone at JHU can request web space with 5GB 10GB capacity via this form: https://t.jh.edu/xPJcf

You will have to create a webpage from scratch and upload it there. You can use something like BlueGriffon if you want a free WYSIWYG website editor.

Faculty and Research Staff

Faculty and research staff have a department directory web page (ex. http://physics-astronomy.jhu.edu/directory/n-peter-armitage/) that can have several tabs for things like publications, biography, teaching, and research. Updates requests to these directory pages should be directed to Jon Schroeder.

You can also get a 5GB web space for uploading custom websites with a nicer domain name for faculty. (ex. http://zakamska.johnshopkins.edu/.)

You can also have Jon Schroeder create a stand alone Krieger WordPress website for you or your lab. This website would have a similar layout of the department’s main website and this alleviates the need to create a website from scratch or know HTML. (ex. http://sites.krieger.jhu.edu/kamionkowski/.) You are able to make changes directly to the websites by logging into WordPress with a JHED ID and password. To start the process of creating a new Krieger WordPress website, please contact Jon Schroeder.

Postdocs and Graduate Students

If you don’t want one of the free 5GB sites listed above, then we recommend going to one of the many online website creation and hosting tools, such as Google Sites. The benefit is that it is hosted independently of JHU, so that when you move on, you will still have full access to your site. Grad students lose their JHED and thus access to their website two years after graduation. Postdocs lose their JHED and access to their website within two weeks of leaving.

Postdocs also have a department directory web page (ex. http://physics-astronomy.jhu.edu/directory/n-peter-armitage/) that can have several tabs for things like publications, biography, teaching, and research. Updates requests to these directory pages should be directed to Jon Schroeder.
