Please join the Portuguese Language Program for the inaugural Symposium on Brazil – Brazil in Focus: Brazilians, Culture & Politics – to take place on November 9 and 10, 2015. This symposium offers our community of scholars and students the opportunity to be exposed to new ideas and concepts, and the opportunity to discuss current topics related to Brazil.
In addition to lectures and roundtables, the symposium will offer the JHU community and participants workshops, cultural activities and an information session on initiatives on Brazil already taking place on our campus. The event will also feature an undergraduate research poster session.
This Symposium will bring to JHU the educational and cultural attachés from the Brazilian embassy in Washington/DC and other dignitaries from international organizations and distinguished faculty from DC area universities and nearby institutions. It will also include the participation of NGOs related to Brazil.
This exciting initiative will represent the beginning of a long term commitment in having Brazil, its language, history and culture represented on our campus, particularly at time when Brazil’s increased influence in the international arena is undeniable.
