This program is designed to offer meaningful learning experiences, mentorship, and professional development opportunities within our organization.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Internship Details<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Project-Based Assignments: <\/strong>Interns will work on specific projects or assignments related to the organization&#8217;s ongoing initiatives. Projects may include research studies, program development, community needs assessments, event coordination support and communication, and participation in an advocacy element (i.e., written or oral testimony, an advocacy webinar or other event such as Hill Day).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Mentorship Meetings<\/strong>: Interns will meet regularly with their assigned mentors to discuss project progress, set goals, receive feedback, and address any questions or concerns. Mentors will be members of the Board and staff, and may include other non-board members.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Training and Workshops: <\/strong>Interns will participate in training sessions and workshops covering topics such as public health principles, research methodologies, data analysis techniques, communication skills, and career development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Communications:<\/strong> Interns will work with the communications team and participate in developing communications materials, including fliers, infographics, blogs on public health issues and events.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Advocacy: <\/strong>Interns will work with the policy team and will have the opportunity to participate in drafting bills and testifying before the Maryland legislative assembly. This committee works on several critical advocacy topics including environmental health, health equity, mental health, nutrition, food access and safety, as well as behavioral health and substance abuse.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Community Engagement: <\/strong>Interns may have the opportunity to engage with community members, organizations, and stakeholders through outreach activities, events, and partnerships.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Final Presentation\/Portfolio: <\/strong>At the end of the internship period, interns will have the opportunity to present their work and findings to the organization&#8217;s staff members, stakeholders, and possibly external audiences.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>For fall interns, presentations will take place as a part of the MdPHA<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>annual event. Students must be in attendance to the annual event or<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>submit a pre-recorded summary of their work.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>For spring interns, presentations will take place during the Legislative<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Wrap-Up event in late April.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Portfolios will consist of the materials, projects, and events that interns<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>develop during their term. This portfolio will be their proof of work<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Application Submission<\/strong>: Interested candidates should submit a resume, cover letter, transcript and at least 2 references as specified in the internship posting.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Interview<\/strong>: Selected candidates will be invited to participate in an interview with members of the internship selection committee. Interviews will be scheduled with an estimated 30-minute timeframe.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Selection<\/strong>: Successful candidates will be notified of their acceptance into the internship program via email.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Compensation<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This hybrid internship program will have a paid and unpaid option. Students may apply for <strong>an hourly wage of $17 with an estimated 10-15 hours<\/strong> anticipated OR <strong>apply to receive academic or internship\/practicum requirement completion<\/strong>. Interns may be eligible for academic credit if approved by their educational institution. Additionally, interns will gain valuable experience, mentorship, and networking opportunities that can contribute to their professional development and future career goals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Note: For students interested in earning both a stipend and credit hours will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.
