Shirley Xie (PHS student)<\/strong> and Garrett Gregory (ChemBE student)<\/strong>, both<\/strong> members of HopOn Harm Reduction, <\/strong>were featured in the January 30th Hub article, “Johns Hopkins students offer harm reduction in East Baltimore”.<\/strong> Through HopOn Harm Reduction they distributed free syringes, Narcan, and other supplies to reduce the dangers and stigmas associated with drug use. Operating from “the Lighthouse” in East Baltimore<\/strong>, they reached 573 residents during the 2023-2024 academic year<\/strong>, providing essential items like Narcan, syringes, smoke kits, and food<\/strong>. The program, founded by Max Sahhar<\/strong>, aims to empower individuals to reduce their own harm and improve their quality of life. Volunteers receive training to ensure the safety and comfort of both participants and themselves.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
