To meet this growing need, equitable, community-level public health interventions are needed to build resilience and strengthen mental health and wellness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month in May, join APHA\u2019s Center for Climate, Health and Equity for an interactive workshop on how to design mental health interventions with a public health approach, focusing on how to engage and prioritize vulnerable populations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Attendees will learn about:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>The mental health effects of climate change and ways that both individuals and health professionals can take action.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The importance of centering and taking the lead from communities on the front lines of the intersecting climate and mental health crises.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tips that help incorporate equity into mental health interventions based on the Climate and Health Playbook: Adaptation Planning for Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Speakers include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Evelyn Maldonado, program associate, Center for Climate, Health and Equity, APHA<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Aditi Samavedy, intern, Center for Climate, Health and Equity, APHA<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Shelbi Davis, MPH, PMP, senior analyst, climate change, ASTHO<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Benjamin Fulgencio-Turner, MPP, director, ecoAmerica<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Bob Doppelt, coordinator, International Transformational Resilience Coalition<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>This workshop will be partially based on recommendations from APHA and CDC&#8217;s <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/nam02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com\/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.apha.org%2Ftopics-and-issues%2Fclimate-change%2Fjedi&amp;data=05%7C01%7Ccbarry8%40jhu.edu%7C109aa693d7034d306c2d08db42942d2c%7C9fa4f438b1e6473b803f86f8aedf0dec%7C0%7C0%7C638176976416935965%7CUnknown%7CTWFpbGZsb3d8eyJWIjoiMC4wLjAwMDAiLCJQIjoiV2luMzIiLCJBTiI6Ik1haWwiLCJXVCI6Mn0%3D%7C3000%7C%7C%7C&amp;sdata=aeIsa2vS3UnPLMvn6XmqskdF3Se%2FoiiSqG2QwnR0BNc%3D&amp;reserved=0\" target=\"_blank\">Climate and Health Playbook: Adaptation Planning for Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion<\/a>.
