Project Description

The Digital Revolution: How The Democratic Party has Leveraged Email and Online Fundraising to Target Grassroots Donors

This project looked at how the Democratic Party uses email to target grassroots donors starting from Howard Dean’s 2004 Presidential campaign which began the online revolution to Bernie Sanders’ digital powered fundraising operation. My research consisted of attending conferences, interviewing political fundraising and digital professionals, analyzing fundraising emails for patterns, and reading scholarly and news articles about email fundraising.
