This will take place both in the classroom and&nbsp;outdoors, but you will have a normal daily schedule like all college&nbsp;students&nbsp;with some&nbsp;weekly&nbsp;extracurricular&nbsp;activity commitments.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Johns Hopkins ROTC Training Program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The curriculum normally consists of&nbsp;two-year Basic Course&nbsp;for&nbsp;First&nbsp;and Second Years,&nbsp;and a two-year Advanced&nbsp;Course for Juniors and Seniors, or advanced cadets.&nbsp;Some modification to this curriculum is common&nbsp;for&nbsp;graduate or transfer students.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Training is planned and conducted entirely by the cadets, and leadership responsibilities within the battalion increase as cadets advance through a four-year program. Their efforts during the school year are complemented by a wide variety of summer training opportunities organized nationally, including Airborne, Air Assault, and other prestigious schools.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Basic Course\/Leadership Training Course<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This is for First Year or Sophomore students in college. Learn basic military skills and the fundamentals of leadership.&nbsp;High school Junior ROTC experience, prior military service, and military academy attendance may also qualify for Basic Course completion.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An elective that anyone can take without making a military commitment&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It normally involves one elective class and lab each semester, along with the required physical training and field training exercises&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Basic Camp<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>This is for students who are joining Army ROTC after their first two years of college or who are transferring schools. Practice leadership roles in a team&nbsp;dynamic&nbsp;environment and&nbsp;get helpful feedback so you can grow as a leader.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Students without ROTC Basic Course experience can examine the Army without incurring an&nbsp;obligation and&nbsp;qualify for Advanced Course entry.&nbsp;Basic Camp&nbsp;serves as an exciting opportunity&nbsp;to experience the Army&nbsp;while&nbsp;gaining&nbsp;transferable leadership skills. It is also a key step&nbsp;in the process of earning&nbsp;a commission as an Officer in the&nbsp;U.S. Army during the next two years on campus.&nbsp;Students graduate prepared to lead others as a second lieutenant in the Army.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>An accelerated alternative to the Basic Course that qualifies you for enrollment in the Advanced Course&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A 31-day training event of intense classroom and field training held in the summer at Fort Knox, KY&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Successful graduates of CIET are normally offered ROTC scholarships and an opportunity to enroll in the Advanced Course.&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Advanced Course<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>For Juniors or Seniors who have completed the Basic Course or Basic Camp and are making the commitment to become an Army Officer.&nbsp;All Advanced Course students are cadets and have a contractual agreement with the Army. These students attend&nbsp;Advanced Camp&nbsp;at Fort Knox, KY between their junior and senior level courses. This is a core requirement to commission in the Army.\u202f\u202f&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Must complete the Basic Course or Basic Camp to qualify&nbsp;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>By entering the Advanced Course, you&#8217;re committing to serve as an Army Officer after graduation&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Includes&nbsp;<em>Advanced Camp<\/em>, a 35-day rigorous training event held in the summer before senior year. This camp is the most significant training&nbsp;and evaluation event in ROTC, assessing leadership abilities and potential;&nbsp;all&nbsp;cadets must pass the evaluation to quality to be an Army \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Extracurricular&nbsp;Activities<\/strong>&nbsp;<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are many exciting&nbsp;extracurricular&nbsp;opportunities all cadets may&nbsp;participate&nbsp;in. This includes ROTC specific teams\u2014Color Guard, Ranger Challenge Team, Pershing Rifles (drill team). JHU ROTC&nbsp;also&nbsp;sponsors many&nbsp;civic-minded&nbsp;outreach activities that may include&nbsp;Red Cross blood drives,&nbsp;tutoring&nbsp;at-risk children, volunteering at&nbsp;shelters&nbsp;and more. Cadets may apply for&nbsp;additional&nbsp;military training such as skydiving, helicopter rappelling, mountaineering, and&nbsp;cold weather&nbsp;training.
