Social Policy alumnus Tommy Koh and his family have provided a gift to the Krieger School of Arts and Sciences that will establish the Tommy Koh Lectureship in Social Policy.
The donation will underwrite the provision of one course per year for the next five years, to be offered by a practitioner or researcher from outside of a university setting. The purpose is to expose Social Policy minors to knowledge and experiences from individuals in settings such as local, state, and federal agencies; nonprofit social service organizations; and policy-oriented think tanks.
The first Tommy Koh Lecturer is Molly Tierney, who until 2017 was the director of the Baltimore City Department of Social Services. As part of the Spring 2018 intensive semester for Social Policy minors, she is teaching the course, AS.360.308, “Policy and Practice in Human Services.”
