“A Comparative View of Exoplanet Atmospheres”
Abstract: Hubble has played the definitive role in the characterization of planets outside of our own solar system. The atmospheres of these exoplanets can now be probed in depth across a diverse range of planets from smaller rocky worlds to Neptune and Jupiter sizes. With the Hubble Space Telescope and soon JWST, a new era of atmospheric studies is opening up, where wide scale comparative planetology of dozens of planets in different physical environments is now possible. Such studies can provide powerful insights into how planets form and evolve in different conditions and how their atmospheres work.

“Modulating the Immune System to Prevent Host Rejection of Implant/Transplant Systems for Modern Medicine”
Abstract: Biomedical implant and transplant systems comprise a major component of modern healthcare and are essential for a wide range of clinical applications; however, a huge impediment to their therapeutic performance and lifespan is host immune-mediated rejection. Systems biology approaches to elucidate core players in this response will be presented in the context of identifying next generation drug targets, which will be leveraged toward the design of next generation technologies for eliminating host rejection response.
