Brecht’s masterpiece tells the story of a scientific revolutionary, both his monumental discoveries and his arrest by the Inquisition, intent on denying his research. Galileo looked further, and with more insight, than any person before him. We draw a line from Galileo’s telescopes to the space telescopes that today represent the furthest the human eye has ever seen. Our production brings the latest images from the Hubble and Webb telescopes onto the stage, allowing the black holes, nebulae, and exoplanets to speak. Together with Brecht’s sharp and fast-moving script, they tell of the beauty of the ongoing project to understand the cosmos. And at the same time, they demand that we reckon with the great human cost of resisting scientific knowledge. JHU Theatre welcomes you to the John Astin Theatre in the historic Merrick Barn.

Please be aware that due to construction, access to Merrick Barn is limited.
