As a dramaturg and coach he works on Shakespeare, as well as modern and contemporary productions. Recent books include: a new edition of John Milton\u2019s <em>Paradise Lost<\/em> (Broadview, 2023), <em>Conscience in Early Modern English Literature<\/em> (Cambridge 2017) and <em>Milton and Monotheism<\/em> (Duquesne, 2009). He is currently co-writing a study of Aphra Behn and staging practices in the Restoration theatre. Formerly Head of Text and Context at the The Old Globe\/ University of San Diego Shiley Graduate Acting Program, his recent productions as dramaturg include: <em>Romeo and Juliet<\/em> (for Chesapeake Shakespeare Company), Brecht's <em>Galileo<\/em>, Aristophanes, <em>The Clouds<\/em>, Chekhov, <em>The Cherry Orchard<\/em>, Williams, <em>The Glass Menagerie<\/em> (for JHU Theatre), Thornton Wilder\u2019s <em>The Skin of our Teeth<\/em>, <em>Henry 4 Part 1<\/em>, <em>A Midsummer Night\u2019s Dream<\/em>, Freidrich D\u00fcrrenmatt\u2019s <em>The Visit<\/em>, <em>Twelfth Night<\/em>, <em>Julius Caesar <\/em>(for The Old Globe \/ USD MFA program).
