{"id":5096,"date":"2026-04-01T14:15:23","date_gmt":"2026-04-01T18:15:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/krieger.jhu.edu\/ursca\/?p=5096"},"modified":"2026-04-01T15:08:43","modified_gmt":"2026-04-01T19:08:43","slug":"program-announced-for-annual-arts-sciences-undergraduate-research-symposium","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/krieger.jhu.edu\/ursca\/2026\/04\/01\/program-announced-for-annual-arts-sciences-undergraduate-research-symposium\/","title":{"rendered":"Program Announced for Annual Arts &amp; Sciences Undergraduate Research Symposium"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Office of Undergraduate Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity (URSCA) is very pleased to announce the lineup for the 2026 Arts &amp; Sciences Undergraduate Research Symposium, to be held Tuesday, April 28, in the Levering Great Hall on the Johns Hopkins Homewood campus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The symposium will feature posters and oral presentations by 34 undergraduates who have completed one- to three-year independent research or creative projects, under the supervision of a Johns Hopkins faculty mentor, and with the support of a competitive grant or fellowship from the URSCA office. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Projects range from using AI to calculate tumor volumes to examining the relationship between sleep and dementia; from composing poetry to documenting the stories of &#8220;third places&#8221; in Baltimore; from evaluating the efficacy of public health interventions in rural India to studying incarceration outcomes among Black transgender women in the U.S.; from analyzing a Polish artist&#8217;s use of body casting to contextualizing women&#8217;s place in early British cinema. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The symposium is organized into five sessions, grouping the presenters by broad themes while also inviting audience members to explore across disciplines.
