D.S. Bakker has worked professionally as both a commercial sculptor making props, sets, and sculptural illustrations as well as a fine artist for over 30 years. Past clients include Universal Studios, NASA, Dow Chemical, Ann Klein, New York Times, Maryland Science Center, Maryland Historical Society and the Baltimore Sun.
He received his Masters Degree of Fine Art from The Rinehart School of Sculpture and his Bachelor of Fine Art degree from Maryland Institute College of Art. He has received the Artist's Fellowship Award twice (1992, 1998) and a Works in Progress grant (1986) from the Maryland Arts Council.
