Arranging with the Stack: The Computer-Generated Poem as Social Medium in Lillian-Yvonne Bertram\u2019s \u2018@Tubman\u2019s Rock\u2019<\/a>\u201d.<\/p>\n\n\n\nFrom the introduction: \u201cWriting at the novel intersection of contemporary poetics, critical code studies, and rhetorical theory, Schnitzler uses the occasion of Bertram\u2019s codework to theorize the \u201ccommunity-driven ethos\u201d instantiated by what the former dubs the \u201cfull rhetorical stack.\u201d This hybrid heuristic keys critics into not only the front- and back-ends of computational machines but also to the rhetorical mechanisms of randomization and amplification that allow Bertram to \u201cmake visible the paradoxes and possibilities of Black life\u2014past, present, and future\u2014in America.\u201d While Schnitzler\u2019s \u201cfull stack ethos\u201d is derived from the strategies of Bertram\u2019s \u201c@Tubman\u2019s Rock,\u201d it also supplies a portable framework for holding in double view, as we close read, the formal and material dynamics of a computational artwork.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
