In the summer of 2023, UWP Senior Lecturer and Associate Director of the Writing Center Nate Brown served as the associate producer and was cast in Stealing Cars<\/em>, a feature-length independent film co-directed by Marly Hern\u00e1ndez Cort\u00e9s and Stephen Schuyler, both JHU faculty members in Film and Media Studies and the principals at Filmico Pastiche<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The film was shot in and around Baltimore City by cinematographer Sheldon Chau<\/a> and features an original score by composer Chris Kennedy<\/a>,  associate professor at the Peabody Institute, Chris Kennedy. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Stealing Cars <\/em>tells the story of Mat\u00edas (Carlos Pagan Cruz), who moves to Baltimore to live with his estranged father (Max Carpenter) following the sudden death of his mother. A story of grief, love, reconciliation, and adolescence, Stealing Cars <\/em>is part cautionary tale about an increasingly unattainable American dream and part love letter to Baltimore City. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Showings at the MD Film Festival will take place on Fri, Apr 10th at 2:45 PM at the Parkway Theatre No. 3 and Saturday, Apr. 11th<\/sup> at 9:15 PM in the Fred Lazarus IV Auditorium at MICA. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
