The Tweet Fall ’23

The Blue Jay Battalion have been busy this Fall semester! From early morning physical training (PT) sessions or rucks, weekly labs, ranger challenge competition, our annual turkey bowl game against the greyhound battalion, executing the fall field training exercise (FTX) to hosting our VETERAN’S pt event, and wrapping up the semester with our award ceremony, Winter Commissioning, and holiday celebration. we would like to congratulate our new cadets you all have had a lot of firsts this semester and learned so much. to our returning cadets for continuing to focus hard on improving their skills and mentoring others, thank you!!! we hope you had a safe and well-deserved relaxing winter break we cannot wait for everyone to come back and kick off the spring semester with a Battalion PT session! Blue Jay Spooktacular!

Our Battalion takes PT very seriously… The Blue Jays had a spooky-ish competitive game of dodgeball squad versus squad. On your mark, get set, go- may the best squad win !!

Field Training Exercise (FTX)

our cadets spent 3 consecutive days in November at Gun Powder Military Reservation (GMR) performing all the tactical knowledge they have been practicing during labs throughout the semester. this training exercise was mainly focused on the squad level tactics, weapons familiarization, day/night land navigation. Each squad completed 32 STX lanes collectively!

Winter Commissioning

Malave Cert

2 LT Leslie Malavé graduated from UMBC with a Bachelor of Science in Business Technology Administration. She commissions as an Active-Duty Ordnance Officer.

2 LT Jacob Sutch graduated from UMBC with a Bachelor of Science in Information Systems. He commissions as an Infantry Officer in the Maryland National Guard.

” I’d like to take a moment to welcome everyone back from what I hope was a refreshing and relaxing holiday break!
