Captain Vanezza Ospina has served as an Adjutant General Officer for seven years. She was born in Bogota, Colombia, and came to the United States with her mother at the age of 10. Captain Ospina graduated from Florida Atlantic University in May 2016 and, upon graduation, was commissioned into the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant in the Adjutant General Corps. 

Her civil education includes an Associate of Arts from Palm Beach State College, a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice with a Minor in Political Science, and a second Bachelor of Arts in Public Safety Administration with a Minor in Military Science from Florida Atlantic University. Her military education includes the Adjutant General Basic Officer Leader Course, Sexual Harassment/Assault Response and Prevention (SHARP) Program, Manpower and Force Management Course, and Adjutant General Captains Career Course.

Captain Ospina’s military service began in 2016 after earning her commission from Florida Atlantic University. After graduating from the Adjutant General BOLC, she was assigned to the 130th Engineer Brigade, where she served as an Assistant Brigade S1.

In January 2017, Captain Ospina was reassigned to the 500th Military Intelligence Brigade Theater, where she served as the Brigade Strength Manager.

In May 2018, Captain Ospina was selected to serve in the 715th Military Intelligence Battalion as the Battalion S1 where she successfully served for 18 months prior to attending Captain Career Course.

In July 2020, Captain Ospina was selected to serve in the 4th Division Sustainment Troops Battalion as the Battalion S1, successfully completing 18 months prior to her selection as the 4th Infantry Division Human Resources (HR) Company Commander.

In April 2022, Captain Ospina began serving as the 22d HR Company Commander, where she deployed in direct support for USAREUR-AF Operation European Assure Deter and Reinforce. CPT Ospina was charged with the organizational culture, safety, morale, training, and professional development of officers, NCOs, and Soldiers. During their deployment, her Company executed Personnel Accountability Missions across the European Corps Support Area (CSA), encompassing 15 different APODs across the theater, and postal operations in five APO/MPOs in the Area of Operation - Victory South.

Following her assignment in 4ID, Fort Carson, Colorado, Captain Ospina was assigned to the Blue Jay Battalion at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, where she currently serves an Assistant Professor of Military Science (APMS).

Captain Ospina’s awards and decorations include the Army Meritorious Service Medal (2nd Award), the Army Commendation Medal, the Army Achievement Medal (2nd Award), the Overseas Service Medal (2nd Award), the National Defense Service Medal, the Global War on Terrorism, and the Army Service Ribbon.

Captain Ospina is a dual military Service member married to Captain Juan S. Ospina (QM), and both have a Belgium Malinois mix canine named Princess.
