Major Mamadou B. Sylla is a native of Dakar, Senegal. He was commissioned into the Engineer Corps through the Officer Candidate School (OCS) in 2010.
MAJ Sylla's military career has spanned various significant roles and responsibilities. Prior to his commission, he served as a paralegal specialist in diverse operational environments. As an officer, he served as Assistant S4, Assistant S3, Platoon Leader and Executive Officer in 615th Horizontal Construction Company, 52nd Engineer Battalion, Fort Carson, Colorado, then Engineer Plans Officer, Eighth U.S. Army Seoul, Korea and Commander of Theater Air Naval Ground Operations (TANGO) Secuity Force, STB, USFK, Korea. Following command, he served as a Theater Security Cooperation planner and Plans Branch Chief with U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa (SETAF-AF), Vicenza, Italy.
MAJ Sylla's educational accomplishments include a Bachelor's degree in Business Management and Economic Sciences from the University of Dakar, Senegal and a Master's degree in Geological Engineering, along with a Military Geological Certificate from Missouri University of Science and Technology.
