Are you interested in research but not sure where to begin? Do you have a research idea and need support to develop it? The Office of Undergraduate Research, Scholarly, and Creative Activity (URSCA) invites you to our annual Undergraduate Research Week, a series of activities designed to provide guidance on navigating the research landscape at Hopkins, designing an independent project, securing funding, and more.
Undergraduate Research Week will be held from Monday, October 20 through Friday, October 24, with events offered daily, both in person and on Zoom.
The week will kick off with the URSCA Open House, an opportunity for all JHU students, faculty, and staff to meet the URSCA team and learn about our programs and resources.
Throughout the week, current URSCA undergraduate research grant and fellowship awardees will lead panel discussions on topics such as:
- Designing your own research project in the natural sciences
- Engaging in humanities research in libraries, archives, and museums
- Conducting qualitative research studies, including interviews, surveys, and ethnographies
- Finding the right research mentor and navigating the mentor relationship
- Maintaining balance as an undergraduate researcher
URSCA staff will also lead an info session on our grants and fellowships, and both staff and current undergraduate researchers will be available to answer questions and workshop materials during daily drop-in hours.
This year’s Undergraduate Research Week presents a unique opportunity for all prospective URSCA awardees, especially with the flagship University Undergraduate Research Fellowship now offering $12,000 in support.
