The Assistant Dean of Academic Advising oversees the Office of Academic Advising and the Office of Academic Support. In addition, the assistant dean collaborates with other university and divisional leaders to create and review undergraduate academic policies and to implement special projects such as the Excellence in Academic Advising project, which aims to improve how students understand their program, access resources, and get more from advising. In this role, Martin oversees academic advising and academic support programs for undergraduate students. 

Prior to her current role, Martin served as the Inaugural Director of Academic Advising with the JHU Carey Business School. She led efforts to create a centralized advising program serving all graduate MBA and MS Business programs. Before coming to JHU, Martin worked for eight years as the Assistant Director for Advising with Carroll Community College focusing specifically on retention and technology initiatives. At Carroll, she also taught psychology, which she continues to do for the school.
